Samsung is reportedly considering moving up the release of its next-generation Galaxy Z TriFold, unofficially referred to in reports as the Galaxy Z TriFold 2, although an exact revised launch date remains unclear.
Korean leaker Lanzuk claims Samsung is considering moving up the release of its next-generation Galaxy Z TriFold, although no revised launch date has been disclosed.
The same leak says Samsung is targeting a thinner, lighter, and more durable design while trying to keep the price “nearly identical” to the first Galaxy Z TriFold’s USD 2,899 (about PHP 182,000).
There is separate evidence that Samsung is already developing a successor. ETNews reported in July that the company had shared details of a next-generation TriFold project with suppliers and entered the early stages of development. The Korean publication said specifications had not been finalized, but the device could retain a display size similar to the first model and potentially arrive around July 2027 alongside Samsung’s next Galaxy Z foldables.
Reducing bulk would address one of the original TriFold’s more obvious compromises. Samsung lists the first model at 12.9mm thick when folded and 309g, while its double-folding main display expands to 10 inches.
Samsung launched the Galaxy Z TriFold in South Korea in December 2025 and brought it to the US on January 30, 2026, starting at USD 2,899. Its announcement listed Korea, China, Taiwan, Singapore, the UAE, and the US as launch markets, but not the Philippines.
The timing rumor should still be treated cautiously. Lanzuk claimed in July that cost issues could instead delay the second-generation TriFold beyond its original schedule.
The renewed speculation comes shortly after Apple unveiled the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone.
