- the article concerned;
- the statement you believe is incorrect;
- the correct information, where known; and
- a source or supporting evidence, where available.
Every correction request will be reviewed on its merits.
What we correct
CTRL+PH will correct factual information that is materially inaccurate.
This may include incorrect:
- names;
- dates;
- figures;
- prices;
- specifications;
- quotations;
- availability information;
- descriptions; or
- other factual claims.
Minor changes
Minor spelling, grammar, punctuation, formatting, or stylistic errors may be corrected without a correction notice when they do not materially affect the meaning of an article.
Headlines, excerpts, links, metadata, formatting, and images may also be adjusted after publication for clarity or presentation.
Material corrections
When an error materially affects a reader’s understanding of an article, CTRL+PH may add a correction note explaining what was changed.
A correction should not conceal the nature of a significant original error.
Updates are not necessarily corrections
Technology stories often develop after publication.
Adding newly available information to an article does not necessarily mean the original story was incorrect.
When an article receives a substantial update, CTRL+PH may indicate that it has been updated and explain the new information where appropriate.
Removing content
CTRL+PH generally prefers correcting inaccurate information rather than deleting an entire article.
Content may nevertheless be removed or substantially altered in exceptional circumstances, including significant legal, privacy, safety, copyright, or ethical concerns.
Right of reply
People and organisations covered by CTRL+PH may contact us if they believe relevant factual context has been omitted or inaccurately represented.
A request for correction, comment, or reply does not guarantee that material will be changed or published. Any response will be assessed according to its relevance and supporting evidence.
