The Department of Information and Communications Technology formally launched eGovAI on September 21, bringing its Kuya A artificial intelligence assistant and other AI-powered tools to the eGovPH Super App.
The ceremonial launch was held at The Manila Hotel with DICT Secretary Henry Aguda and Cabinet Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr., who represented President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. eGovAI is available free to verified eGovPH users.
Kuya A serves as the platform’s built-in assistant, providing real-time guidance to people looking for government services online. The broader eGovAI platform includes tools for document text extraction, image identification, translation across Philippine languages, form understanding, speech generation, tourism information, and access to laws, policies, and government guidelines.
Identity AI provides another part of the platform, using facial recognition and liveness checks to help verify that a person is physically present during identity-related processes. Government launch coverage also lists electronic Know Your Customer, or eKYC, among eGovAI’s identity-verification capabilities.
DICT is also opening eGovAI to government agencies that want to build their own AI services. Approved agencies can create custom AI engines grounded in their documents and approved services, set their own operating boundaries and guardrails, and integrate the engines into websites, mobile apps, and internal systems through APIs.
For eGovPH users, the formal launch puts AI assistance directly alongside the government services already accessible through the super app, with DICT positioning eGovAI as both a citizen-facing tool and a platform government agencies can use to build their own AI-powered services.
