iQOO has confirmed a second 8.8-inch gaming tablet, a “Pro-level” model powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, days before it launches the iQOO Pad Ultra.
An iQOO product manager said in a September 24 Weibo post, spotted by Notebookcheck, that the tablet will pair the Snapdragon chip with iQOO’s in-house Q3 esports chip. Its performance will sit a tier below the Pad Ultra, according to the post, which says iQOO will share more details later.
iQOO has not announced the tablet’s name, price, battery capacity, or launch date, or whether it will get a built-in cooling fan.
The post says the two tablets differ mainly in their chips. iQOO says the Pad Ultra uses the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and in-house Q4 gaming chip as the iQOO 16 smartphone, which launches alongside it in China at 7:00 p.m. PHT on September 29.
An iQOO flagship series product manager introduced the Pad Ultra in an earlier September 16 Weibo post, first reported by Gizmochina. They said the tablet weighs 298g, is 5.74mm thick, and has an active cooling fan he described as unusually large for a tablet, along with dual X-axis linear motors for haptic feedback.
iQOO has since detailed the Pad Ultra’s 8.8-inch 165Hz OLED display, rated at up to 4,500 nits, and its 9,020mAh battery.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 also powers Lenovo’s Legion Tab Gen 5, which has an 8.8-inch 165Hz IPS display. Lenovo lists the Legion Tab Gen 5 at PHP 51,995 on its Philippine online store.
iQOO doesn’t officially sell its devices in the Philippines, and it hasn’t announced plans to release either tablet outside China. Its phones reach local buyers only through third-party sellers.
