YouTube is adding conversational AI video editing, customizable homepage feeds, and new music and podcast discovery tools as part of its Made On YouTube 2026 announcements. Some features are already being tested, while others will roll out through 2027.
One of the biggest additions for creators is a Gemini-powered conversational editor for Shorts and the YouTube Create app. Creators can select photos and video clips, generate a first draft from a prompt, and continue refining it through chat.
The editor can suggest trimming pauses, rearranging clips for pacing, adding text, and syncing music. Creators can switch back to manual timeline editing at any point.
YouTube says conversational editing will begin rolling out globally on Android and iPhone in early 2027. YouTube Create itself is not currently listed as available in the Philippines, although the editing feature will also be available through Shorts as part of the global rollout.
YouTube Studio is getting more AI-assisted production tools as well. These include feedback on early video drafts, thumbnail generation based on a channel’s visual style, and A/B testing of up to three different cuts of a video.
YouTube says the Studio updates will roll out globally across mobile and desktop from now through 2027.
Custom Feeds give viewers more control
YouTube is also expanding Custom Feeds, which let viewers create a dedicated Home feed around a particular interest, routine, or mood using a conversational prompt. The feed then refreshes with recommendations matching that request.
The feature is currently experimental for signed-in users in the U.S. with English-language settings. YouTube says Custom Feeds will be available in the U.S. across web, mobile, and TVs this fall.
YouTube Music expands AI discovery
YouTube Music is expanding Ask Music, its generative AI feature for finding music through natural-language prompts. The updated experience can also recommend podcasts, customize a listening queue, and answer questions about music and artists.
Ask Music currently requires YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium and is limited to mobile devices in selected markets. The Philippines is not on its current availability list.
YouTube Music is also adding Your Podcast Lineup, a personalized AI-generated audio guide. It will provide a weekly spoken preview of recommended shows, explain why they may interest the listener, and then move into suggested episodes.
YouTube says the expanded Ask Music experience and Your Podcast Lineup are coming soon to YouTube Music and Premium subscribers worldwide.
