Apple has begun rolling out iOS 27 in the Philippines, bringing its latest iPhone software to supported devices starting with the iPhone 11 and iPhone SE (2nd generation).
The free update became available locally on September 15 and can be installed through Settings > General > Software Update.
The headline addition is Siri AI, Apple’s redesigned version of its voice assistant. Apple says it can draw on information from a user’s messages, emails, photos, and other personal context, understand content displayed on screen, access information from the web, and perform more actions across apps.
Siri AI is initially rolling out in beta in English, including in the Philippines. However, it requires an Apple Intelligence-compatible iPhone: the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16 models, or newer supported devices. That means many older iPhones that can install iOS 27 will not receive its main AI features.
iOS 27 also expands Apple’s parental controls. Parents can set daily time allowances across categories such as games and social media, create schedules controlling when certain apps can be used, require approval for new contacts, and use Ask to Browse to restrict access to new websites.
Apple is also promising performance improvements. The company says apps can launch up to 30% faster, photos can load up to 70% faster after being taken, and AirDrop transfers can be up to 80% faster. Actual performance will depend on the device and usage conditions.
Other changes include a new slider for adjusting the appearance of Liquid Glass, sharper app icons, and improved search across apps including Spotlight, Photos, and Mail.
Apple recommends backing up an iPhone before installing the update. Feature availability can also vary depending on the device, language, and region.
