Microsoft has updated its 12-inch Surface Pro and 13-inch Surface Laptop with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Plus processor, replacing the Snapdragon X Plus used in the original models launched last year.
The Surface Pro 12-inch starts at USD 1,149.99 (about PHP 72,000), while the Surface Laptop 13-inch starts at USD 1,199 (about PHP 75,000). Both go on sale October 13 in select markets.
That is a sizable price increase over the first-generation models. Microsoft launched the original Surface Pro 12-inch at USD 799 and the Surface Laptop 13-inch at USD 899 in May 2025, making the new starting prices about 44% and 33% higher, respectively.
Both new PCs use a six-core Snapdragon X2 Plus with a Qualcomm Hexagon NPU rated at 80 TOPS. Microsoft says the new models deliver up to 17% faster Office productivity performance, up to 18% better battery efficiency, more than 60% faster graphics, and up to 95% faster local AI inference compared with their Snapdragon X Plus predecessors. Those figures come from Microsoft’s own testing and can vary by workload and configuration.
The Surface Pro 12-inch also gets a brighter 500-nit display and Microsoft Ink Canvas, a pen-focused app for sketching, annotating, generating images, and summarizing text. Ink Canvas will come pre-installed on the new Surface Pro and will become available for other supported Surface and Windows devices through the Microsoft Store on October 13.
For business customers, Microsoft will offer an optional 5G version of the Surface Pro 12-inch. The consumer model listed by Microsoft supports Wi-Fi 7.
The Surface Laptop 13-inch also gets a 500-nit display. Microsoft rates it for up to 22.5 hours of local video playback or 18 hours of active web use, and the laptop weighs 1.23 kg.
Microsoft has only announced the October 13 launch for select markets. Philippine pricing and availability have not been confirmed.
