Apple’s next iPad mini will use an A20 Pro chip and move its front camera to the landscape edge, MacRumors reported on September 25. The report cites official product images that MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris found in Apple’s code.
The same find includes images of a second-generation HomePod mini and a fourth-generation Apple TV 4K. Apple hasn’t announced any of the three devices.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman expects the iPad mini to launch by the end of October. He reported on September 14 that new Apple TV and HomePod mini models remain on track for this year.
The camera change would make the iPad mini the last iPad to adopt a landscape front camera. The images also show a small groove at the top of the display glass, which MacRumors says is presumably for the speaker. The current iPad mini, released in 2024, uses the A17 Pro.
Gurman has previously reported that the next iPad mini will be water resistant, use a vibration-based speaker, and have an OLED display. The leaked images show only the front of the tablet and don’t confirm the display type.
Images labeled “HomePod mini 2” show the same spherical design in green, pink, blue, white, and black. The current model comes in yellow, orange, blue, white, and midnight. MacRumors says the new blue is slightly lighter.
Code sleuth pdfu separately found the system behind Siri AI, Apple’s upgraded version of Siri, in HomePod Software 27, MacRumors reported. Apple hasn’t said which HomePod models will support it.
The Apple TV 4K image shows no outward changes and reveals no specifications. The current model, announced in October 2022, uses the A15 Bionic chip with 4GB of RAM.
Earlier this month, Perris found evidence in Apple’s code that points to an A19-generation chip for the next Apple TV, according to MacRumors.
In the Philippines, Apple’s online store sells the current iPad mini from PHP 42,990 and the Apple TV 4K from PHP 14,490. Apple doesn’t sell the HomePod mini through its Philippine store.
