OnePlus will launch the OnePlus 16 in China on October 12, giving its next flagship an official debut date after several weeks of teasers. The phone will be among the first devices powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.
The company confirmed the date during its 2026 OnePlus Gaming Conference on September 28, where it focused heavily on the OnePlus 16’s gaming hardware. OnePlus says the phone can run supported games at up to 185fps on its 185Hz display, extending the 165Hz approach used by the OnePlus 15.
Part of that push comes from a new generation of OnePlus’ Fengchi Gaming Kernel, which the company says can coordinate processor and memory resources to prioritize games under heavier workloads. The claimed sustained 185fps performance will still depend on individual games supporting that frame rate.
OnePlus is pairing the software work with three dedicated gaming chips. The G3 handles network-related processing, the T3 focuses on touch response with support for a 520Hz multi-finger touch sampling rate, and the P4 handles display processing intended to improve motion clarity.
Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 on September 22 as the higher-end version of its new flagship mobile platform. It is built on a 2nm process and uses Qualcomm Oryon CPU cores, including two prime cores capable of reaching up to 5GHz.
OnePlus has already opened reservations for the OnePlus 16 through its Chinese website. The October 12 announcement applies to China, and the company has not announced Philippine pricing or a local release date.
