Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Buds On, the first clip-on wireless earbuds in its Galaxy Buds lineup. The open-ear design sits around the outside of the ear instead of sealing the ear canal, allowing users to hear more of their surroundings while listening.
The Galaxy Buds On will go on sale in South Korea on October 27 in black for KRW 299,000 (about PHP 14,000). Samsung said the earbuds will roll out to other markets afterward.
Samsung said it analyzed different ear shapes and adjusted the placement of the speaker and battery to improve fit. The clip also uses a wider contact area to distribute pressure across the ear, while a touch-sensitive area on the back handles music and call controls.
For audio, the Galaxy Buds On use what Samsung calls a TwinBoost Speaker to reinforce bass, along with automatic volume adjustment based on surrounding conditions. They also introduce Audio Leakage Reduction, which Samsung says is being used for the first time in the Galaxy Buds series to reduce sound escaping from the earbuds.
The earbuds run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound Platform with a Class-D amplifier. Samsung claims up to 9.5 hours of continuous music playback on a charge.
Calls use three microphones, machine-learning processing, and a bone-conduction-based Voice Pickup Unit sensor that detects vibrations when the wearer speaks. The bone-conduction component is used for voice pickup during calls; music is produced through the earbuds’ speakers.
Galaxy AI features are available when the Buds On are paired with a supported Galaxy phone or tablet. Users can start Gemini Live by voice, record Quick Voice Memos and search them with Bixby, and use head gestures to answer or end calls, dismiss alarms, or have message notifications read aloud.
Samsung also says the Buds On can connect to a Galaxy phone or tablet simply by opening the charging case. Basic audio settings, including volume and equalizer controls, can be accessed through the device settings or quick panel without installing the Galaxy Wearable app.
