PH-Singapore cable segment restored, provider says

InfiniVAN says its C2C segment has been under monitoring since 12:48 p.m. Globe, meanwhile, has said repairs to the affected fiber could take weeks.

InfiniVAN Inc. says the C2C submarine cable segment between the Philippines and Singapore has been fully restored, a day after a cut slowed internet connections across the country, as first reported by Inquirer.net.

In a network advisory posted at 3:11 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, the Japanese-Filipino telecommunications provider said the segment has been under monitoring since 12:48 p.m. and services are operating normally.

InfiniVAN said the issue has been permanently resolved and that it will share a Reason for Outage (RFO) report as soon as one is available.

Converge ICT Solutions separately said in a customer advisory on its support page that it had rerouted its internet and data traffic to and from Singapore through other submarine cables.

PLDT has also announced they had rerouted and restored their services.

Globe, meanwhile, said repairs to the affected subsea fiber are expected to take several weeks, according to a statement from an executive quoted by local media. The telecommunications provider said it is working with partners to validate the cause of the disruption.

As CTRL+PH reported on Friday, PLDT and Converge rerouted traffic after the cut. The Secretary of Information and Communications Technology, Henry Aguda, said at the time the cause was still being determined and that it was too early to draw conclusions.
