Google may be preparing a new screen-equipped fitness tracker called the Fitbit Edge, according to retail material obtained by Android Headlines. The leaked material, also reported by 9to5Google, shows a compact wearable positioned between the screenless Fitbit Air and the Pixel Watch 5.

The Fitbit Edge reportedly has built-in GPS, an altimeter, automatic activity recognition, and phone notifications. A leaked comparison table lists Bluetooth connectivity without Wi-Fi, along with support for both Android and iOS.

Its listed functions include Google Maps, media and music controls, and Find My Phone. The same material claims up to seven days of battery life, putting it closer to a traditional fitness band than a full smartwatch that needs more frequent charging.

The leaked images show the Fitbit Edge in Canyon, Obsidian, and Olive. The design has a display that reaches closer to the edges of the case than previous Fitbit trackers, with health and activity information visible directly on the watch face.

The Edge could effectively take over the role of the Fitbit Charge line, although Google has not confirmed that. The current Charge 6 was introduced in 2023 with a USD 159.95 launch price and similarly supports features including GPS and Google Maps.

There were signs of another Google wearable before the latest leak. An unidentified tracker appeared in Google marketing material in August, followed in September by an FCC filing for model G8BL6 with a screen, Bluetooth Low Energy, and GNSS, or GPS. The filing did not identify the device as the Fitbit Edge.

Google has not announced the Fitbit Edge, and there is no confirmed price or release date.
