CTRL+PH aims to publish technology journalism that is accurate, useful, independent, and relevant to people in the Philippines.
These standards apply to all editorial content published by CTRL+PH.
Accuracy comes first
Accuracy takes priority over speed.
Before publication, we aim to verify material information including names, dates, prices, specifications, availability, quotations, company claims, and other factual details.
When information is uncertain, incomplete, disputed, or unconfirmed, we say so clearly.
We do not knowingly fabricate quotations, figures, sources, specifications, events, or other information.
Philippine relevance
CTRL+PH covers technology through a Philippine lens.
For international developments, we look for genuine local relevance, including:
- Philippine availability;
- local pricing;
- affected users;
- support from Philippine banks, telcos, platforms, or other companies;
- applicable regulation;
- infrastructure differences; and
- how a global development may affect people in the Philippines differently.
We do not manufacture a Philippine angle where none exists.
Sources and verification
CTRL+PH prioritizes primary and authoritative sources whenever reasonably available.
These may include:
- official documents and regulatory filings;
- government agencies;
- direct company statements;
- interviews;
- official product pages and documentation;
- reputable news organizations;
- established industry publications;
- credible analysts and researchers.
Social media posts, forums, and community reports may help identify leads but generally require further verification.
When original source material is available, we prefer it over relying solely on another publication’s reporting.
Attribution
Information originating from another publication, organization, company, researcher, or individual should be appropriately attributed.
Company claims are not automatically treated as independently verified facts.
Marketing claims such as fastest, industry-leading, revolutionary, or similar language should either be independently supported or clearly attributed to the organization making the claim.
When another publication breaks a story first, CTRL+PH credits the original reporting.
Press releases
Press releases are sources, not finished articles.
CTRL+PH does not simply reproduce corporate announcements. We identify what matters, remove unnecessary marketing language, add relevant context, and verify material claims where reasonably possible.
Headlines
Headlines should be clear, accurate, and useful.
We do not deliberately hide the subject of a story, manufacture mystery, exaggerate developments, or use misleading language simply to attract clicks.
Search visibility matters, but it does not take priority over accuracy, clarity, or natural writing.
Rumors and leaks
CTRL+PH may report leaks, rumors, or other unconfirmed information when the source is credible and the information is sufficiently newsworthy.
Such information must be clearly identified as unconfirmed.
We do not describe leaked or rumored information as confirmed unless it has actually been confirmed.
Reviews and recommendations
CTRL+PH reviews aim to explain what a product or service is actually like to use rather than simply repeat specifications.
Where relevant, we consider areas such as:
- design;
- performance;
- battery life;
- cameras;
- software;
- connectivity;
- ecosystem;
- durability;
- value;
- Philippine availability; and
- local warranty and support.
Recommendations should recognize that different readers have different priorities.
Access to a review unit, product loan, service, event, or company representative does not guarantee favorable coverage.
Where a relevant relationship could reasonably affect how readers interpret the coverage, it should be disclosed.
Editorial independence
Companies are treated as sources, not partners in editorial coverage.
CTRL+PH retains control over what it publishes, how stories are framed, and what conclusions are reached.
We do not allow companies or other interested parties to approve editorial copy before publication.
Checking individual technical details with a source is acceptable. Giving that source editorial control is not.
Advertising and sponsored content
CTRL+PH is currently operated as a non-commercial editorial project.
If advertising, sponsorships, affiliate links, or other commercial relationships are introduced in the future, they will be kept distinguishable from independent editorial coverage.
Paid content will be clearly labeled.
Payment will not be accepted in exchange for favorable editorial coverage.
Affiliate links
If CTRL+PH introduces affiliate links, their presence will be disclosed.
Affiliate relationships will not determine whether a product receives coverage, whether it is recommended, or how positively or negatively it is assessed.
Editorial judgment comes first.
Artificial intelligence
CTRL+PH may use artificial intelligence tools to assist with parts of its editorial workflow.
AI-generated output is not treated as an authoritative source and does not replace verification against underlying material.
AI does not independently decide what CTRL+PH publishes.
Our use of AI is explained in our AI Policy.
Corrections
CTRL+PH corrects factual errors transparently.
Minor typographical, grammatical, or formatting fixes may be made without a notice when they do not materially affect the meaning of an article.
Significant factual errors should not be silently changed. When an error materially affects the story, a correction note may be added explaining what was changed.

Updates
Technology stories can change quickly.
Articles may be updated when substantial new information becomes available. When an update materially changes the understanding of a story, we may identify the change within the article.
We do not change publication or modification dates simply to make old content appear new.
Embargoes
CTRL+PH may agree to reasonable publication embargoes when their terms are clearly communicated before confidential information is provided.
An embargo does not give a source control over the resulting coverage.
Opinion and analysis
Reporting, analysis, and opinion should be clearly distinguishable.
Analysis should explain the evidence behind its conclusions and should not present uncertain outcomes as inevitable.
Opinion content should be clearly labeled and remain grounded in verifiable facts.
Respect for the reader
CTRL+PH values the reader’s time.
We aim to get to the point, avoid unnecessary filler, explain technical subjects clearly, and publish only as much as a story genuinely requires.
A short article that contains everything the reader needs is better than a longer article padded for page views.
Our editorial test
Before publishing, CTRL+PH asks:
- Is it true?
- Is it new?
- Is it useful?
- Is it clear?
- Why should a CTRL+PH reader care?
- Can the reader immediately understand what the story is about?
- Is the Philippine context genuine rather than manufactured?
When accuracy and speed conflict, accuracy wins.
When sounding impressive and being understandable conflict, understandability wins.
When repeating an announcement and explaining what it means conflict, we explain what it means.
